Wetland Assessment & Delineation

The NJDEP has determined that protection of vital wetlands is necessary to preserving the local ecology. Therefore, the proper identification and delineation of wetlands and their buffers is critical when planning for the development of lands. Since disturbance of or discharge into wetlands are closely regulated, the client needs an experienced team that will balance the best interests of the client with the protection of the wetlands. ABR’s professionals have advanced degrees in environmental science and are able to identify the quality of the wetlands based upon the soil conditions, types of vegetation and wildlife. Therefore, ABR works with the NJDEP to properly assess the wetlands and its associated buffers, if any.

Environmental Assessments
Most, if not all, municipalities within the state of New Jersey require some form of environmental site assessment to accompany land development applications. The extent of the assessment is based upon what potentially hazardous materials are discovered at the site. The Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is completed for the purpose of identifying the presence of environmentally unsafe materials. The Phase I involves a physical examination of the site, researching past operations through ascertainable records and checking regulatory compliance. Most municipality’s ordinances set forth the Phase I requirements; however, if none is provided, ABR will perform the assessment in accordance with the ASTM.
To the extent that the Phase I identifies potentially hazardous environmental conditions, ABR will perform a Phase II Site Investigation. The Phase II consists of further site investigation based on the finding from the Phase I. The investigation may include air, soil, surface water or groundwater sampling. If unacceptable levels of contaminants are found a remedial investigation and feasibility study are performed to ascertain the most effective and cost effective remedial plan.
Once all environmentally adverse elements are identified and quantified and a remedial plan is established, ABR will implement and monitor the work plan and work in conjunction with the NJDEP to see the remediation effort receives approval. ABR will also procure any permits that may be required, if any, to implement the remediation work plan.

Environmental Impact Statement
An environmental impact statement (EIS) is a document that catalogues the environmental factors that significantly affect the quality of the human environment. A tool for decision making, an EIS describes the positive and negative environmental effects of proposed development, and cites alternative actions.
ABR’s proven experience enables us to provide dependable and comprehensive assessment services. Accordingly, ABR’s involvement from the commencement of the project will create a level of comfort that all environmental issues will be addressed in an efficient and economical manner and that no unnecessary measures will be undertaken thus lowering overall costs to the client.

Remediation Action Work Plans
In creating and implementing a remediation action work plan (RAW), or any other remediation plan, our goal is to provide innovative solutions that take advantage of the latest technologies, designs and methods. Our objective is to be compliant with all regulations in the most cost effect manner. We achieve this objective by working in union with the NJDEP, or other respective agency, to ensure that all methods instituted in the RAW.
